Introduction

People join affiliate programs because they might not have products of their own. They are essentially an agencyship of a merchant and in order to earn from them you have to sell their products.

When we stop to think why so many affilates are not succeeding we note that quite often it is not the affiliate program but rather the way the program is marketed. Affiliate program sites are designed to do the selling for you and even the worst written written sites can sell a buck or two. This is not to suggest that all affiliate programs are good. Personally I do not like to join programs which do not deliver anything at the end of a transaction. I expect to be able to deliver my customers something and departing with $5 to seven people and then recruiting another seven people to depart with $5 of their own, who in turn must recruit seven more each and so on and so on, is not my idea of delivering anything at all and therefore I refrain from opting for any of this type of program. I am not stopping anyone from choosing such programs but you won't get it in my site.

I have selected the following affiliate programs because I know they deliver a lot. I cannot tell you if they are the biggest money spinners or the very best deal, but in my opinion, since they earn me a lot, they are definitely worth sticking with.

The Bear Essentials

You will need to do the following:

• An account at one or more payment processors
• Your own domain and webhosting - One of the importnat reasons you need your own domain and hosting is because you want to secure your sale and earnings and do not want to give them away to others who are out there to cheat you. Another reason you will need your own domain and hosting is because it is far more effective promoting the affiliate programs from your own site rather than an free affiliate site. Search engines rank affiliate sites far lower because they are not unique. When you promote them from the own site you can make them as unique as you want.
• membership with some affiliate programs. Here I need to emphasize that I like to promote programs that offer something to my customers. I feel at ease beleiving that they are buying something they need, but you are welcome to look for your own.

Payment Processors

If you want to get paid you will need to join one of the payment processors or even several of them. Affiliate programs usually pay to one of these sources and so it is essential that you join them. They are absolutely free to join.

You can use the payment processors to make online transactions and this is also very essential if you want to buy tools to help you succeed.

Your own domain and Webhosting

There are many packages available on the internet. However you need to look carefully before selecting one. Many packages simply do not allow you to grow and you might find that soon after purchasing one, you need more facilities. However many facilities often cost quite a lot and sometimes this is not affordable at the outset. This is why I suggest the following package. It is extremely cheap and allows to grow as much as you like. In fact it is a unlimited package which is cheaper most limited packages in the market. You are welcome to compare and indeed I would advise you to do so, but I am sure you will soon discover that the package that I am offering is ideal.

Affiliate Programs

There are thousands and thousands of affiliate programs on the net. Some are very good and have been operting succesfully for years and some are not as good and may even be fraud.

I have been involved in many and have even been cheated a number of times. This is why I devised a personal rule never to promote a program that does not deliver a product when a customer departs with his money. My belief is that if something tangible is obtained in return for payment that the customer benefits, which is my primary conecrn. The second concern is whether I would get paid and again my belief is that if payment is received for something that will always be needed and will constantly be sold then the likelihood of me getting paid is high. In any case, I have only selceted the affiliate programs that always pay me and that are very big and are unlikely to cheat anyone. You are welcome to look for others but I am sure that these will be enough.

The Money is in the List

This is so true. Getting traffic to your affiliate programs is difficult and especially when there are many people selling the same products. The chances of ranking the search engines is very low and unless you can get traffic to your programs no one will see them. So what you need is an optin list which you will give you the freedom to send offers to your downline as many times as you like. The sheer numbers will boost your chances of success tremendously. If you promote an affiliate program, it is almost certainly costing you a substantial amount of your commissions because many people modify the links. This can be done in two ways - chopped links and stolen commissions. All is required is to simply change the referall ID on the internet browser.

Chopped Links
Some people try to stop affiliates getting commission by chopping the ID part of the link for no benefit of their own and for absolutely no reason. They are a bit like the 'Dog in the Manger'. They cannot get the commissions themselves and do not want affiliates to have it either.

The Stolen Commission
This is worse. Some people will sign up to the affiliate program themselves and then will change referal ID to their own affiliate ID before buying the product - thus gaining your commissions for themselves. In both these cases, you lose a commission that should rightfully be yours.
